Prosperina record their debut album

Midway through last year we embarked on the project to self finance our debut album ‘Faith in sleep’.
We spent a week down at Mwnci studios in the capable hands of studio owner Jethro Chaplin and platinum award winning producer Joe Gibb where the atmosphere was and always is immense and the accommodation fantastic.
The album was produced By Joe and Geth with Jethro engineering as well as contributing with additional production ideas.
Additional recording and mixdown was completed by Joe and myself at Mighty Atom studios after the bulk of the record had been recorded in Mwnci’s great live room where we managed to capture the vibe of the Prosperina juggernaut in full motion.
After recently getting the album mastered by Jack Adams (Metallica, Nico, Ennio Morricone, Phillip Glass) at the custom built Optimum mastering facility in Bristol we just want to say a big thanks to Jethro, Joe and Jacko for their contributions in making the record sound absolutely HUGE!… For those of you who’d like to turn your shell like ears onto a snippet you can find us at myspace.com/prosperinamusic

Rachel completes her EP at Mwnci

My newly formed seven piece band recently recorded with Jethro down in Mwnci studios, it was overall a great experience from start to finish. The house was really cosy and was an awesome bonding session for the band. We recorded four tracks in three days, Jethro’s method of working was efficient yet relaxed, he had a creative input into our music which was very helpful. His ideas complemented my song-writing and made the process really enjoyable. He was especially good at directing me throughout the vocal recording process concentrating on tone, tuning and phrasing.

Throughout the post production Jethro was adamant to ensure everything was perfect, and would not leave anything untidy. We are very pleased with the final production of the EP and would definitely consider recording with Jethro in the future.

The Owls – Power Pop 3 piece from South Wales

Owls spent a few days in the beautiful setting of the Dolwilym Estate in the company of Jethro Chaplin and his quite incredible studio. The weather couldn’t have been better for October, mild during the days and a little parky at night, nothing that couldn’t be remedied by the open fire in the ‘Kitchen’ accommodation (itself quite incredible). Day one saw us set up and after a bit of mix and match we had a lovely punchy drum sound, as well as a Bass sound from Chris’ vintage Ampeg flip top bass amp. By day two we had recorded all of the drums and most of the bass and shaken off the hangover. Day three saw us track some guitars and vocals, day four more of the same. All in all a great few days, a wicked sound, lovely walks, loads of laughs, wine and trivial pursuit. Big up to Jethro and the happy hardcore vibes….see you on the dance floor.

Upcoming Sonic Boom Six DVD

Team Mwnci have been at The Academy in Manchester recording a live performance by Sonic Boom Six for their new DVD. The band opened the main stage at Reading and Leeds this year to rave reviews.

‘Mwnci studios kick ass….fact! The location is perfect for getting your head down and working, the scenery is inspiring and Jethros face is almost God-like in its beauty and form. But in all serious, Jethro knows his shit and he really got the best out of us. Combine the gear hes got, his know-how and the surroundings and you’ll be surprised to find out that you wont actually have to sell a kidney to make CD there.

Why go just anywhere when you can go to the middle of nowhere…

An awesome location to record music, in the middle of nowhere! Lets you escape for a while.

We really enjoyed recording at the studio, Jethro makes you feel right at home, and he’s more like a mate than a producer. The quality and production of our tracks turned out so much better than we had hoped. We are looking forward to returning to Mwnci studios to record out E.P later this year.

Wow – I’ve never met anyone as patient as ‘Jet’. He is my new hero and a hunk to boot. I think I will boot him now. . Besides that, we have had a great experience here yet again and the record is sounding ‘HEEWWJ’. I’ve done a good few sessions here and you’d think the feeling of amazement would wear off but it doesn’t – It’s the ultimate residential experience if you don’t have a massive label spunking dough on you. Alice in wonderland meets rockfield!
